The ensemble is structured around four distinct and complementary sonic entities. Each carries specific instrumental practices, unique gestures, and singular timbral research. This diversity is not envisioned as a juxtaposition of styles or approaches, but as an active principle of creation: the music emerges from the connecting of these identities in a constant interplay of tension, balance, and transformation.

The work of √17 centers on research into repetition envisioned as a generative process of transformation.

Starting from elementary rhythmic cells, the ensemble implements processes of phasing, shifting, layering, and variation. These operations, often minimal on a gestural scale, produce significant perceptual effects: shifting accents, the appearance of emergent patterns, instability of temporal anchors, and phenomena of continuity or rupture.
