“Zero... it is not the void. It is absolute plenitude. It is everything at the same time. It is the presence of everything. Everything you can imagine... and more.”

Magic Malik — on Orytmi

Who are we?

Astropi is an artistic platform and an independent label founded by musicians Toma Gouband and Brice Soniano, and consists of a team of five people and an international constellation of artists: Harmen Fraanje, Magic Malik, Benoit Delbecq, Joachim Badenhorst among many other great artists.

Vision and mision

Astropi was originally created to guarantee total creative autonomy for artists, bypassing the constraints and delays of traditional production circuits. Today, the project operates as a production label (releases of records, books…), a production of audio creations (videos & recordings for Astropi music ensembles) and a hub for organizing unconventional cultural events. The goal is to manifest music through an experimental prism, respecting the organic rhythm of creation and its connection with the environment.

“Trying to find other ways to manifest music, in connection with one's own creative rhythm and the resonance of the world.” — Toma Gouband

Where are we located?

Astropi is located in Europe with two main branches:

  • Astropi France, based in Nantes.
  • Astropi Music International, based in Aarhus, Denmark.

Our activities unfold in diverse locations, ranging from international concert halls to natural spaces (sound gardens, vegetable plots), as well as sites with unique acoustic heritage such as the chapels of Dordogne.

How do we act?

  • Production and Publishing: Production and publication of sound recordings and works dedicated to artistic research.
  • Immersive Events: Creation of festivals and unconventional performances.
  • Technological Innovation: Development of exclusive digital listening and viewing tools, such as the Labyrinthizer and the Meta Player, designed to offer an augmented sound experience.
  • Creation and Production: Realization of original shows led by the company's musicians.

Brief History

The name "Astropi" first appeared in Holland during a trio concert evening with saxophonist Tobias Delius. What began as a one-off collaboration evolved into a "Loi 1901" association in France, and later into an international structure.

Since 2005, the collective has marked the experimental landscape through major projects, including:

  • Ondulo: Immersive concerts within an installation of 400 suspended ceramic bells.
  • Les Astropies Musicales d'Olonzac: A festival in the heart of the Minervois nature.
  • Jardin Sonore: Sound and visual installations in wild spaces.
  • Rituals for Peace: Immersive music blending sound and light installations.
  • Ecouter Pour L’instant: A festival held in the chapels of Dordogne.
  • The Land, The Sound: A 24h festival with continuous music.
