What is polyrhythm? Is it a concept or an actual reality? Is there one idea of polyrhythm or several? Is it just a matter of rhythms? Isn’t there an inherent relationship to speed? To cycles? What connects all polyrhythmic manifestations? Can numbers explain everything? How can we write polyrhythm? Do numbers express polyrhythm? Wouldn’t a number formula be, like a table, the writing of a posed space of time? What is a number? What comes before the number and the number formula? What phenomenon comes before the number symbol, what precedes it? What is a surface, an area, a color? And the mixture of colors? And the mixture of surfaces? And the mixture of cycles? What is a cycle? What gives rise to a formula? What is a formula? Successions of events? What is an event? Encounter of two elements? What is an element? A body? Isn’t a body composed of several elements? Can a rhythm be an element, or a body? What is a rhythm? Is there an elementary element? A first encounter? How is life born? How does a life element grow? Are numbers phenomenal manifestations? Does zero mean anything? How does 1? And 2? Then 3? What exists between 0 and 1? How from 1 to 2? How is the beginning? A beginning? What is a frequency? What are two frequencies? A third? What is infinity? What is an integer? Is the surface of a circle infinite? And the spiral? Can two infinities mingle? Meet? Coexist? Can two integers overlap? What does the meeting of two elements, finite or infinite, give? A formula? A table? When do they really meet? At the beginning? What is a speed? Is there only one way to show a speed? Is a color a speed? Is a frequency a speed? Is a beat a speed? How fast do hearts beat together? What do clouds teach us? And water? And currents? And the elements?
Are the organic and psychic mechanics of a living body polyrhythmic? Isn’t a living body a reflection of a polyrhythm of the universe? Is synchronicity a polyrhythmic component? How is a set of celestial bodies organized? Is the deployment of a celestial dance polyrhythmic? Are the revolutions of the planets around a sun polyrhythmic? By their speed and distance? Or/and if we take a reference point marking each beginning? Does polyrhythm necessarily have to be a movement? Can we represent a polyrhythmic space-time? How to represent, express, account for? Does a number exist universally? Does the smallest dimension have an end, limit, irreducible? Can geometry be polyrhythmic? Geography? And a landscape? And choaos? Can polyrhythm be infinitely complex? Isn’t it also a state of listening? A listening point? A listening to something around us? A decision or concentration to listen? A gathering of simultaneous listening to several elements, whether they be speeds, graphics, sounds, beats, pitches, periods, cycles? Is polyrhythm necessarily logical? Is it logic? A logical result? A coordination between elements? A resultant, a result? What connects two elements? A larger element? Or/and smaller? 2×3=6, what does this 6 mean? A common denominator? What does this 2, and this 3 mean? Elements? Must these elements be of the same nature? What does a circle contain? Two circles? Is the circle fundamentally different from the spiral? What do cosmic cycles tell us, cycles of the moon and cycles of the seasons for example? What does the moon tell us as it changes shape with shadow and light?
According to a circle where the center of a second circle is located without it being inside and outside the first circle? Circumference? If the second circle is of the same dimension as the first, are the centers not merged? And thus wedged? What is the relationship between these two circles? What does this vesica piscis mean, this third space resulting from the entanglement of the two circles? If we consider that the circles are beats whose starting points are the centers and whose durations are equal to the length of the radii, do we not have there a first resultant = 1?
Let us listen to the bells suspended at various heights swinging and ringing, is this polyrhythm? Let us listen to the flow of a stream and the wind in the leaves, is this polyrhythm? Listen to the beating heart and the movement of breathing, is this polyrhythm? Let us look at the clouds very high and the clouds low, is this? Let us listen to the birds and while walking let us listen to the footsteps in the dead leaves, is this? Let us listen to a child speaking at the same time as an adult, is this? Let us imagine the same dance, or marches of the same speed, one taking place in a train going at 100 km/hour, the other on dry land, is this? Let us imagine this same scene and add the image of this scene on our planet in double movement, on itself and around the sun: is this polyrhythm? What common denominator between two elements? Let’s imagine the aging of a rock, a tree, a bird, a flower, a butterfly, and imagine our own aging, all simultaneously, then add the aging of the sun: is this polyrhythm? Let’s imagine the cycle of the seasons, the day/night cycle and the cycle of the moon, is this? Let’s imagine all the cosmic cycles simultaneously: is this polyrhythm?
